Playing with hench is somewhat boring, I'll still be forming and joining pugs if friends and guildies are not available.

But for me nothing changed, henchies monks were always my choice over the pug monk lottery. Too much chance for a noob monk or a monk who tries to run the group (start your own groups if you want to dictate the party).

Now who of you would refuse this?

Monk Squad LFG, My Heal Team lead by a real Monk will keep you party healthy and free of conditions while you and your fight team kick ass.

No I don't think Monks will have any hard time LFG.

This was the build I used for Tahlkora and I was only too happy with the results. Stats were split between protection and divine.

Reversal of Fortune
Mend Ailment
Mend Condition
Protective Spirit
Shield of Regeneration
Aegis
Viper's Defense
Res Signet

I think if do a Heal Squad of 3 I will make the other Monk HERO a Focused Hex remover.

The heroes function quite well with simple builds.

However, when given something requiring a little more complexity and/or timing (monking, for instance, or a dervish build), they seem to fall flat on their face.

For the whole event, I made Dunkoro and the Dervish-hero smiters. They performed admirably after that.

Given the choice between a hero and a player, I'd rather choose a player. All the hero represents to me is an extra eight skills with which I can support either myself or my team.

Anyone else give Koss BiP? ;P

Sorry but nothing will replace a human.

Unless Johnny 5 becomes reality......

Human logic/decision making far outweights the AI. The AI cannot properly prioritize in combat what to do.

For example, a monk is being knocked down, you'll maybe feel it's best to run in and attack the person hitting your monk, knocking them down and shifting agro to them. Heros cannot do that on their own.

What heroes CAN do is become an extension of a single player. Like if you want to use skills from 3 professions in a certain order. Bring a Hero! If you want to experiment? Bring a hero!

Heroes can't and WON'T replace humans. They will close the gap when deciding for monks (The class that is allways in short supply)

Off-Topic but an excellent point. I almost wish this hero system were retroactive. Maybe one of our choices will be Denova. Or Menhlo. Who says we HAVE to have Drunkaro? maybe GWP players could get a GWP hero instead?

We could take them to the ember light and breeze through with proper skills; it was much easier with flags while I was skill capping this weekend.

How much effort does that require to retro GWP and Factions for Heroes? This could silence the "Prophecies is empty!" complaints in one fell swoop. We can already beat the missions with henchies and practice. Heroes could lower the learning curve while increasing player flexibility (want a better monk? cap some skills and study builds). Much of the monk/warrior/mesmer/ele hate in this game would die if people had to learn some of these builds before they acted like experts to the people running them.

The heroes were great. All of them, including the monks.

They could be better, it's true, but the most important thing to remember when delegating tasks is to shape your job assignments to meet the capabilities of the person you give them to, in management.

It took a number of tries to pick out a build that the monks could use effectively, but after a while, I stumbled across ones that were well-suited to their abilities, and my party's needs. I played with a single other human player, and my 2 monks were the entire defensive backline, keeping us up through the entire event.

For most explorable areas and missions, it's going to take a lot to tear me away from my heroes, monks or otherwise. That's how much I like them.

However, flag system or not, the human ability to learn, adapt, and understand instructions will never be replaceable.

Say, for example, you wanted Koss to be a paladin. I tried it for fun, and no matter how many times I tried, he cast it on other people, and not himself. You will always run into problems like that dealing with NPC's, and in those instances, that's when you're not only going to want, but potentially NEED humans.

Especially with death traps and puzzles abounding in Nightfall.
